Data controller

Details from the sign-up form
Through the sign-up form we collect: name, email address, canton, preferred language and your answers about an existing website and your interest. Optionally a free-text message. We do not ask for any health data.
Your customer account
As soon as you use Website Generator, we create an account for you. It holds your email address, your name, optionally your phone number and your password – the password only as a hash (bcrypt), that is, in a form it cannot be reconstructed from. We never know it in plain text and cannot look it up either. Added to this are technical details such as the time of registration. The phone number is optional and serves only to verify a stated association membership — we do not call you unprompted and do not pass the number on.
The content of your website
Everything you enter in the editor is stored so that your website can be built from it: name, professional title, services, the area you cover, texts, opening hours and availability, contact details and images. What you enter is up to you. Please do not enter any details about your clients there – Website Generator is not intended for health data.
Your published website is public
As soon as you publish your website, everything on it is visible to anyone on the internet and is indexed by search engines – including your telephone number, your email address and any practice address. That is exactly what a website is for: so that clients can find you. Even so, consider for each detail whether you want to show it publicly. If you take something down, it disappears from your website; in search engine caches it may remain findable for a while – we have no influence over that.
Your domain
For every domain you connect to your website or order through us, we store the domain name, its status (for example checked, connected, active) and the expiry date of the registration. If you order a domain through us, we pass the details required for registration on to the registry – without them, no domain can be registered in your name. Depending on the extension, whoever holds a domain is visible in a public directory (Whois/RDAP).
Payment and subscription
Payment does not take place here but on ki-schmied.ch, where the transactions are handled by Stripe. Your card or account details therefore never enter this system: Website Generator only learns whether your subscription is paid and until when it runs. The privacy policies of ki-schmied.ch and Stripe apply to the payment itself.
The emails we send you
We only write to you for operational reasons: confirming your registration, resetting your password, notifying you about a domain that is about to expire or about your subscription. To send them, your email address is passed to the mail server we send through (SMTP). We do not send promotional newsletters.
What we use the data for
To run Website Generator for you: maintaining your account, creating and publishing your website, managing your domain, notifying you and assigning your subscription. We use the details from the sign-up form solely to inform you about the launch and to gauge demand. We do not sell data and pass nothing on to third parties for advertising purposes.
Storage and data location
Your details are held in a PostgreSQL database on a server in Switzerland that we operate ourselves. This applies to everything created here: sign-up, account, website content and domain data. It does not leave Switzerland and is not passed on to third parties – neither sold nor used for third-party advertising. The only exceptions are those named above: payment via ki-schmied.ch with Stripe, the sending of our emails and the registration of a domain. Access is limited to the people needed to run the service, and transmission is encrypted (HTTPS).
Retention period
We keep the details from the sign-up form for a maximum of 24 months after the launch of Website Generator and delete them afterwards. If the project is not pursued further, we delete them sooner. Account, website content and domain data remain stored for as long as your account exists – if you cancel or ask for deletion, we remove them. On request we delete your data immediately, at any time.
Cookies and audience measurement
This website sets no cookies for advertising or tracking and embeds no third-party analytics services. For the login we need a single, technically necessary cookie to keep you signed in; it contains only your user identifier and the expiry time. Any audience measurement runs without cookies, without profiling and on our own infrastructure. That is why no consent banner is needed here.
Your rights and withdrawal
You can request access to, correction of or deletion of your data at any time – including deletion of your entire account together with your website. You can withdraw your consent to the sign-up at any time and without giving reasons; we will then delete your entry along with all the details it contains. The withdrawal takes effect on receipt and does not affect the processing carried out until then. A short email to hallo@ki-schmied.ch is enough.
